Installing the Plato Plugins on a Macintosh Computer

Intro:

This tutorial will walk a Macintosh Computer user through installing the Plato Plugins. These plugins allow students to access the older contect provided by Plato Learning Inc., one of Christa McAuliffe's content partners, on either the Macintosh Safari or Mozilla's Firefox web browsers.

The Tutorial:


To Begin:

  1. First, open either Safari or Firefox (in this example we will use Safari) by using the Finder to open the Macintosh HD > Applications Folder on your Macintosh.



  2. Next, go to the Christa McAuliffe Academy Home Page, which can be found at: http://www.cmacademy.org. Select "Support" from the site menu.



  3. On the CMA Support page, scroll to the bottom, and click the link labeled " Plato Plugins for Mac (OS X) "



  4. The web browser will open the downloads window, and the Plato Plugins will start to download. When you get the confirmation message shown below, click Download to continue.



  5. The browser should download the file to the desktop of your Mac. Double-click on the file named Plato_Mac_Installer_OSX.



  6. To begin the install of the plugins, click Continue.



  7. Again, on this screen, click Continue.



  8. To continue with the installation, Click Install.



  9. The installer will require you to enter the username and password for the computer's administrator (the user account on the computer with unrestricted privileges. Then click Ok.



  10. To continue with the installation, Click Install again.



  11. A progress bar will appear as the plugins install...




  12. When the plugins have successfully installed, this screen will appear confirming the install.



  13. Finally, to be sure your changes take effect, from the Menu Bar item Safari, select Quit Safari or you can use the keyboard shortcut of holding the Command (Apple) button and pressing "Q" (Cmd-Q).


The Plato Plugins have been installed for both Safari and Firefox!
