Installing Adobe Flash Player™ Tutorial for Macintosh

Intro:

This tutorial will teach you how to install Adobe/Macromedia's venerable Flash Player™ on a Macintosh Computer. This browser plug-in is required for courses at CMA & AO, and is available free from Adobe.

The Tutorial:


To Begin:

  1. Open your internet browser (Safari or Firefox) to the Christa McAuliffe Academy Home Page



  2. Click on the Support Tab on the right of the main navigation bar.



  3. Under the heading "Common Downloaded Files" click, Adobe Flash Player



  4. A new window will open, revealing the Flash Player Download Center on Adobe's main site. Select (click) the option that matches your computer.



  5. A file download will begin.



  6. Confirm the download when it is finished by clicking Continue



  7. The disk image will mount, and a window will open with the Install Flash Player 9 Installer. Double click the icon to begin.



  8. When the installer intro screen appears, click Continue.



  9. If you have any internet browsers (Safari or Firefox usually) open, close them before proceeding. Once this is done, click Install



  10. The installer will show a progress bar to represent how far it is in the install process.



  11. When the installer is finished, it will open your default web browser (Safari in this image) and give a confirmation message saying, "Adobe Flash Player is Installed.



  12. You may now eject the disk image (Cmd-E or Ctrl-click and select eject) and delete the .dmg file.



You have now successfully installed Adobe Flash on your Macintosh computer!
