Clearing the cache on the Safari Web Browser

Intro:

Safari is the most common web browser on Macintosh OS X (pronounced "O-S-Ten") and is included by Macintosh on all its modern computers. Many problems can be cured simply by deleting the temporary Internet files stored on the computer. This is known as "Clearing the browser's cache."

The Tutorial:


To Begin:

  1. First, start by opening the Safari Web Browser. This is usually found in "the Dock" of most Macs, or it can be found in the "Applications" folder by opening Macintosh HD > Applications



  2. Once Safari is running, click on the Menu Bar item Safari in the top left of the screen



  3. Next, from the pull-down menu that appears select Empty Cache



  4. Safari will make sure you want to clear the cache, by asking a confirmation message. Click Empty.



  5. A progress bar may appear for a short time. When it dissapears, Safari's cache has been cleared.


  6. Finally, to be sure your changes take effect, from the Menu Bar item Safari, select Quit Safari or you can use the keyboard shortcut of holding the Command (Apple) button and pressing "Q" (Cmd-Q)
