For those families who are using America Online please read the following:
Best Performance:
In order to achieve the best performance between AOL and CMA please make sure that your web browser (Internet Explorer) is version 5.0 or higher. You can do this by opening Internet Explorer (The big blue E on your desktop.) Click Help --> About. The version number will be right under the Internet Explorer logo. If you have less than version 5.0 please visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and upgrade to version 5. You can upgrade to the current version of Explorer if you so choose (As of July. 2007 the current version is 7.0) but it is not required. The reason you need to have version 5.0 is because Plato Web and eClass use special plug-ins that work best with version 5 browsers and above.Best Connectivity:
In order to properly connect to A+/ALS you will need to make sure that the AOL Account being used for school activities has full access. Here is why: AOL has a feature that allows parents to control the amount of access their children have to the Internet. This is a wonderful idea: however, it does cause some problems with third party software such as A+/ALS. When you limit you're children's access through AOL it will block all outside Internet access other than AOL's own software. That means that A+/ALS is unable to connect to the Internet. In order to get around this you must do one of three things.I actually recommend number three and with AOL now offering 7 Screen Names (With AOL 7.0+) this shouldn't be a problem for most families.
Best Compatibility:
In order to achieve best compatibility between AOL, Plato Web and eClass do not connect to Plato Web (http://plato.cmacademy.org) or eclass (http://records.cmacademy.org/) using AOL's built in browser. AOL is a content provider, not an Internet Service Provider, and as such they tend to cache every website you visit as you are visiting them. This can cause problems when working on assignments in Plato Web or attending a eclass. Instead of using AOL's built in browser use Internet Explorer. (The big blue E on your desktop.) In order to do this all you need to do is connect to AOL and then open Internet Explorer and go to either http://plato.cmacademy.org or http://records.cmacademy.org/. Once there begin your schooling as usual.Back to Top
