Course Instructor Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Course Instructor reports directly to the Director of Education (Principal). This position is accountable for the overall direction and instruction of online course(s). This position will ensure the integrity of the course(s) by focusing on curricular and instructional quality. Responsibilities include the oversight of student.s overall progress in a particular course. Additional responsibilities include planning, developing and organizing personalized lessons (eclass and offline) for students based on each student.s needs and educational profile (ie. learning style, ability). The focus of these assignments will be on mastery of the subject matter and will support the attainment of state standards and benchmarks. Achieve Online strives to meet district, state and national standards for excellence in learning.

  1. Bachelors degree in respective academic program or related field required; Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a field related to the area of instruction.
  2. Must possess a valid Certified Teacher Certificate issued by the State of Washington.
  3. Must clear background check as required by the DOJ in Washington and required drug and TB skin test.
  4. Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate with students, parents, faculty, and administrative staff.
  5. Ability to demonstrate problem solving and decision-making abilities to facilitate the high school learning experience and perform the functions described.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as a faculty member for online course(s); this includes preparing lesson plans and instructing students.
  2. Instructs students within the assigned content area and serves as a mentor for less experienced faculty members.
  3. Responds to student issues and concerns via email or telephone.
  4. Monitors Student Progress of learning through regularly scheduled meetings/contact with student (minimum one time per week)
  5. Evaluates and monitors students. performance through the grading of assignments and assessments, and the timely posting of grades in the course management platform grade book.
  6. Completes and submits class/student reports used for administrative purposes.
  7. Develops and maintains relationships through regular interaction and communication with academic staff, faculty, students, and parents; advises the principal and educational facilitator of class and student needs.
  8. Assists in marketing the online high school model to potential students and families; assists with student retention as needed.
  9. Be familiar with, and attend to, the needs of special education students, including attending Individualized Education Programs (IEP) meetings.
  10. May participate in the development and review of curriculum, including but not limited to instructional strategies, assignments, and assessments for assigned courses.
  11. Assist each family in understanding the importance of WASL testing (or similar norm referenced tests) and facilitate each student's opportunity to take this annual exam.
  12. Assist with the administration of the WASL testing (or similar norm referenced test).
  13. Possess a current, clear or preliminary, multiple or single subject, Washington teaching credential and showing annual progress as required by the State of Washington.
  14. Participate in all required training courses on an annual basis.

The focus of these programs will be on the core curriculum subjects and will support the attainment of state standards and benchmarks. Other responsibilities include planning, developing and organizing personalized assignments for each student based on each student.s needs and educational profile (ie. learning style, ability). Achieve Online strives to meet district, state and national standards for excellence in learning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Administrative Assistant Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Administrative Assistant (AA) works in a variety of areas as needed to help the Admin Team accomplish their goals. The AA also works with the Office Manager and Director of Education to promote and maintain high standards for all academic programs and activities. The AA helps to implement new processes and procedures designed to improve the school.

  2. Assist the Director of Education in processing student enrollment applications.
  3. Help to coordinate and manage the workflow to assure that all students are properly launched and that all paperwork is completed and properly filed.
  4. Help to establish guidelines and processes for the effective implementation of an integrated administrative program.
  5. Help to implement strategic plan for upgrading and improving Achieve Online administrative services across the board.
  6. Participate in collaborative activities and projects involving other staff. 
  7. Participate in appropriate training to ensure the smooth implementation of new programs and procedures.
  8. Completes Board Items (meetings, agendas, correspondence)
  9. Assist the Director of Finance in collecting accounts receivable and with other duties as needed.
  10. Work effectively with staff as a part of the Admin Team.
