AP & Honors Courses AP Courses are available to high school juniors and seniors who meet the necessary prerequisites. Visit the High School page for a current list of AP courses. Honors is available for most middle school and high school core courses. Honors courses require students to engage in activities that develop personal character while also serving their community or beyond. These activities are at a higher level of learning per Bloom’s taxonomy: analyze, evaluate, and/or create. See the Resources Page for the Honors Course Guide. GATE CMA students are encouraged to learn through their strengths and to build their talents, leading to a sense of positive affirmation and to greater student success. They are assigned a personal educational facilitator (EF) who mentors, advocates, and serves as a point of contact, and students can keep the same EF year after year. Course instructors are empowered to tailor instruction to meet individual student needs and preferences. Also, the flexible scheduling and pacing allows students to learn when and where they learn best, and also to move faster through material they know while still allowing them to move more slowly through difficult subjects. Flexible and Accelerated Learning CMA has had several students graduate early due to accelerated learning options. Students usually take one or two classes at a time, and then begin a new class immediately upon completing a previous course. In this way, students are able to focus, study a subject in greater depth, and often master a course more quickly. Extra-Curricular & Life Activities Since CMA is available to students year-round, students can work their education around community work, sports competitions, theatrical performances, and so on. Students might move faster through their program some months and slower through others, depending on their current scheduling needs and activities outside of school. Learn More Is CMA the right choice to meet your needs? We invite you to explore our program further and to contact us with any questions your have.
